Our 2017 Annual Spring Student Piano Recital in Natick MA for Children and Young Adults

Our annual Natick Studio recital, featuring elementary, intermediate and advanced piano students was held on June 4, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Hartford Street Presbyterian Church in Natick, MA. Many friends and family members were in attendance. This was the 34th annual spring recital by students of the Mascari Piano Studios!

Performing at this Natick MA recital were students Fin Rando, Talia Salls, Andrew Salls, Oliver Kubik, Ally Yang, and Becca Johnson. Performances consisted of classical, jazz and popular selections as well a duet.

The recital started off with a performance by Fin Rando playing a song made famous by Elvis Presley called Love Me Tender followed by a Sousa march entitled Watch Your Step. Fin is an 8-year-old third grader at the Johnson Elementary School in Natick MA. This is his second year at the Mascari Piano Studios. Fin also plays the recorder.

Eleven year old Talia Salls was next performing Johann Strauss’ piece Roses from the South followed by the theme from the movie Beauty and the Beast. Talia is in the fifth grade at the Hemingway Elementary School Framingham MA. She has been taking lessons for 4 years at the Mascari Piano Studios and also enjoys ballet and jazz dance as well as playing percussion instruments in the Hemingway Elementary school band.

We are proud to have a number of siblings studying at the studio including Andrew and Talia Salls. Andrew Salls was next performing Kimberger’s Lullaby and Bourrèe by Christoph Graupner. Andrew is 14 and is in ninth grade at Framingham High School. He also plays Xylophone and Mallet Percussion in Framingham HS Concert Band and has been taking piano lessons for the past 7 years.

Next to perform was Oliver Kubik with his rendition of Our Detective Agency followed by the short but jazzy Aardvark Boogie and ending with a duet with his teacher Robert Canavello called Stories of Long Ago. Ten year old Oliver is a student at our Hudson MA piano studio. He attends the fifth grade at the Peasle School in Northboro MA where he enjoys playing the trumpet in the concert band.

Ally Yang, a fourth grader at the Bennett Hemenway elementary school in Natick was next starting with Elton John’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight? Followed by the big band classic Sentimental Journey. Ally has been playing the piano for a total of three years.

Closing out the student performances was ninth grader Becca Johnson playing David Gates’ early seventies classic tune called If followed by Saying Goodbye to Gravity Falls and To the Stars. Becca attends Natick High School where she plays the flute in the Natick HS Symphonic Band Jazz Band. She has been playing the piano for a total of seven years.

The audience was then treated to a short faculty performance by Diana Mascari on piano playing a wonderful swinging version of the jazz standard Satin Doll.
